Chapter 1

I signed my scrawling, not in the least neat, signature on the wrinkled piece of official paper, under multiple others that had also been penned above mine. All of us were around 15-18 or so. Young, quick, agile, and innocent- for the most part. We had been told this was great exercise and something noble to help the community. Of course, we thought it was true; our government wouldn't lie to us, so we signed up, jumping at the opportunity to be recognized and strong.
