Chapter one.

Elizabeth Cardiner was a shy, nerdy girl throughout high school and dated Kelly Severide for a short period time. They broke up due to Elizabeth heading off to join the army, much to her brother, Benedict's dismay. Benedict is very hardworking and has a job high up in the CFD. Now, 25 years old, and having returned to Chicago, Eliza has a job as PIC at Firehouse 51, courtesy of her brother. Little does she know that Kelly severide works there as the lieutenant. Kelly thinks of Elizabeth as the same girl he was with back in college, but she's not that girl anymore, will sparks be reignited between the two?
