It started 700 years ago. My ancestors possessed a power so valuable that many sought to obtain it, deeming us unworthy of it. However, all humans are the same. We knew they only wanted our abilities for their own benefit. To inflict pain on those they despised. To become rich. To rule the world. Whatever selfish desire their tainted hearts held. We let them come after us. But they all failed. However, they were only humans. They were unknowingly just pawns in a dangerous game of chess. It was a dark force lurking in the shadows that was the real enemy. A dark force so evil that hell itself spat them back out. It lusted after our abilities, to rip them away from us and use it for itself. So my family made a pact to use their powers for good. To protect the innocent, and even those who were not. They may not have had the purest intentions, but they were only human. My ancestors fought until their very last breath to keep the darkness at bay. And now that responsibility is mine. But this time is different. This time, we're not safe. Because three hundred years later, they've returned. They're more powerful. They will kill anything that crosses their path. Everybody will die. And if I don't fight- evil may just win.
