Author's Note

Topaz is an irregular gem, made in the natural way that a gem is created on Earth but the process is unfamiliar to home world gems. Due to his irregular experiences, Topaz isn't anything like a normal gem and has no knowledge of the outside world since he had been trapped in a mineral cave for most of his existence.
