Marti Abigale Abbot was the daughter of two Conservative Christian lawyers who raised her to carry on their law firm. She was the complete opposite of her parents, excepting where they shun, creative where they scoff, rebellious where they follow. It was these traits that lead her to figure out that her father isn't who her mother says he is. In fact, he isn't her father at all. Discovering this she runs to find him and ends up on the steps of the Richard Rodgers theater in New York City.
