By the look on Derek's face I could tell he wasn't buying it. But, I wasn't going to let him know that.

He smirked, "introduce me to him then. Since you guys are "buddies" now and everything." He said, putting air quotes on the word buddies.

Shit.

"Okay, stay right here." I quickly ran off, plopping on the seat beside the boy. His interest remained on the book, like he didn't know there was a presence beside him.
