Author's Note

All across the map, war is beginning to rage. Nuclear bombs are dropping on towns, and leaving them deprived of life. Enemy soldiers are marching in and seizing control. And to the people, all hope seems lost. The same cannot be said about America. The minute that war was simply mentioned, American authorities set to work at making sure their country was protected. But instead of making weapons like bombs, or guns, or explosives, they took a different approach; one that has never been taken before, and would change history forever. Their approach on weapons was to use humans. These humans were no ordinary beings. They were genetically mutated, beings with special abilities so powerful they were sometimes uncontrollable. These humans could smell, see, taste, hear, and feel at a heightened level; they could read and communicate through minds, manipulate thoughts and memories, and bend emotions; they could shape-shift; they could regenerate like they'd never been hurt, or heal others with just a touch; they could set fires or freeze things solid by just thinking about it. Okay, so they're not quite humans.

Trained to be soldiers in secret, away from prying eyes that could leak information to the enemy, all these "humans" have ever known was how to be weapons. With the exception of Izabelle Gregors.

Stolen from the government with immense power flooding through her veins, Izabelle was a grenade bound to blow up. But her father managed, raising her as if her blood were no different from that of a normal child, and giving her no knowledge that things were otherwise. And he almost succeeded in keeping it that way. Almost.
