Mitchie leaves her family, school, her entire life, but mostly her lover Zayn behind for a couple months. She needed to change. And she couldn't do it in the current position she was in.
By the time she was finished, she was happy and she came back just to share her joy with Zayn, the love of her life.

But the day she comes back, he dies.
She never understands how his death came to be until she reads all the letters he wrote to her while she was away.
