At eleven, Nick's parents died along with thousands of others all around the world, consumed by mysterious fires. Five years later, water starts following Nick around school, he'll meet another fire survivor, and his tiny door pendant will grow to more usable dimensions, revealing answers that wait on the other side. But the man who murdered his parents is far more dangerous than Nick knows. This man sacrificed hundreds of thousands of lives in his quest for power, and isn't finished with the world just yet, both the parts of it familiar and the parts unseen.
