Austyn doesn't know that there is a world beyond the underground city of Terra run by a government controlling the people with scent-thought technology. Her life is monotonous until she meets an outsider who helps her discover the sunlight and the world above the underground tunnels, but escaping the city seems impossible especially when the government discovers that her lack of smell makes her virtually un-programmable.
