Description
The nine-year-old could hear the owl's hoots growing louder as feet on the other side of the door drew closer, the thunder seemed to smash through the sky. The horse reared and neighed as the door handle clenched, but then, when a tall, boney woman stood in the doorway, all was silent for Honey. Honey's world has been a travesty from the start. A twist of sickening people and unlikely friends: it's a wonder the small girl still sees the good in people.
