Description

Set in 1918, Nashville Tennessee Meet Mrs. Bessy Colombo. She may be the Average woman.. She may have Secrets... Benjamin Franklin said: "Three can keep a Secret, if two of them are Dead" FrightFest2016 Gold Winner Reviews by the FrightFest Judges: FINN H. ARLETT Nakita is one of those rare, hidden gems here on Wattpad, whose writing flows naturally off every page and stays right in my memory. I'm a lover of superlatives, but this story is so effectively written I had to stop many times while reading and just admire her lines. Each one felt crafted and the overall effect was both wonderful and twisted. She captures the era and atmosphere from the first page, and those descriptions - wow. I was so pleasantly surprised by this entry I could write pages on it. L.L. SANDERS Bloodroots & Black-Eyed Susans is a well-written psychological thrill ride that begins with a flare of the romantic & poetic, but soon spirals toward the dark & twisted. With perfect execution of the unreliable narrator, crisp & appropriate vocabulary for the 1918 era, and jaw-dropping twists & turns toward the quarter mark & on through the finale, this book is psychological terror at its finest. Even the explanation behind the title is one of the most clever reveals I've read. Definitely deserves to be among the winners of #frightfest2016! IAN R COOPER: The first chapter of "Bloodroots" showcases a great example of foreshadowing, and the unreliable narrator of the story is a perfect fit for exhibiting both a mind on the cusp of insanity as well as the period language. Brevity and a non-chronological account add to the feeling of a disjointed viewpoint. It hints at the sinister nature as it unravels before the reader. The ending does a nice job of calling that foreshadowing back to the reader naturally, without feeling out of place or like it's underestimating the reader's intelligence. #23 in novellet #19 in 1918
