Still broken-hearted after the Cullens left, Bella decides that she needs a change of scenery. So she heads off to Mystic Falls to stay with her cousins, Elena and Jeremy Gilbert. There she meets the original Hybrid and can't help but feel drawn to him.
Klaus wants to break his curse but he needs the doppelganger. When he heard that the doppelganger's cousin is coming to town, he comes up with plan.
Get close to the girl, get her to trust him, then use her as leverage over the doppelganger.
