It's 5555 AD, and society is changed. A lot. Crystal lives as a masked. The masked are the ones with money. A future. A future that's written in what seems like stone. Every day, every meeting, every feeling... Planned down to the second. Playing along? Easy as breathing. She's grown up like this, but after being given a taste of what it feels like to take off the mask- to live? It's not so easy after that. Ren is one of the Blanks. They live only to monitor the Masked. Make sure they keep on track. If they don't? That's ok. The blanks are each a genetic copy of the masked. If they catch their assigned masked deviating, they get to become them. What happens to the masked though? No one knows, no one cares. But Ren doesn't want to be a masked, so when she finds her assignment, Crystal, deviating, she doesn't report it. But as Crystal begins to deviate more and more, questions arise and Ren is forced to make the most difficult decision of all.
