Description
Luella Eves shut her teary eyes as the rusty lift started its slow descent, down into the mouth of the mountain. Three life changing words swam around in her mind. Repeating. Guilty. Sentenced. The Pit. Guilty by association. Sentenced because those in power fear change. And sent to the pit because it's the only place to put criminals and rebels. But what happens when you are innocent? How can someone who is so different from those in the pit survive? Luella is about to realise that in the pit it doesn't matter if you are innocent, because you're just another piece of meat to prey on. And to survive you have to take risks, chose your allies wisely, and avoid the scariest prisoners. For her, one of the scariest prisoners in the pit is Don, but she isn't sure if that's because he's mean, tough and unfriendly, or if it's because he's smart, witty and dangerously handsome. Either way, to survive they are going to have to help each other. And in the process, risk everything. Secrets will be revealed. Enemies will be made. Friends will grow closer. And survival will grow harder.
