Seventeen year old Scarlet Fennely has always lived an average life. She met her best friend, Alexander Adams, from a project her history teacher made her class do when she was fourteen for a "pen pal" grade. She grew up, continuing the tradition, while she knew little of her deeper connection to Alexander. Now, three years later at age 17, Scarlet and Alexander still communicate as much as possible despite their distance.
