Aaliyah and Kyndal have lived in Virginia their whole life, but have always been homeschooled. Aaliyah and Kyndal are bestfriends, as well as their moms. They all live together as a family. Once Aaliyah's mom dies, they have to attend public school on account of if being too much for Kyndal's mom to bare on her own, especially since now she was to work more than she used to to provide for the girls and keep the house.
