Chapter one

"Charlie" I am subconsciously aware of someone yelling my name in the distance. I open my eyes, nothing. I feel myself drift away. In what could have been minutes or hours later I hear it again, "Charlie", this time accompanied by a low buzzing sound. I blackout again, finally a third time "Charlie" only this time more of a whisper, the buzzing is gradually getting louder. I realize I'm lying facedown in the dirt, I slowly and awkwardly shift my body so that I'm looking at the sky, it's either dawn or dusk judging by the way the shadows fall across the boys face above mine, he slowly fades into view. "Charlie what the hell?"
