Prologue - "Let Me Tell You A Story..."

My mother used to tell Nikolai and I bedtime stories of a land called Skylor. Shortly after telling the story of Airic & The Dreamthistle Berry, my mother is murdered. Ten years later, i'm sixteen years old. I live with my brother, Jordan, and have two amazing friends: Nikolai and Cassie. No matter how many bedtime stories my mother told me when I was six, I could never begin to imagine a world where vampires, faeries, werewolves, and many other creatures existed. But my views on all things fantasy-like are going to change when my best friend Nikolai and I meet Quincy, a pixie living in his human form. Quincy introduces us to the land of Skylor, the land that all of my mother's stories are set in. I can't believe it, it's real. What's even more amazing is that my mother is still alive...somewhere in Skylor. But there's only two people who can help me: Airic and a guy named Cross, who everyone thinks is dead. With Airic nowhere to be found and Cross's stubborn attitude, i'm not finding anyone anytime soon. One last thing, I feel like i've been to Skylor before.
