Heather has gone from family to family. Her parents died in a car crash when she was little. She barely remembers them. Every night she has nightmares of a blinding green light and yelling. Is it a memory of her past, or just a nightmare? Heather has never known love, kindness, or trust. The one time she felt safe and secure in a foster family, they left her. While moving from home to home, Heather learned that she is better off trusting no one but herself. She has lived with secrets and pain her whole life. Everything seems like a giant lie to her though. Did her parents really die in a car crash, or did they not want her? No matter how long Heather chases her past, it always slips away. The life Heather knows is like a caged bird, wanting to take flight. Then Mr. and Mrs. Ataman come along. They are like the parents Heather never knew. Then they have to leave her. How come the best things in life never last. Heather is only sure of two things in her life. Her last name is Potter, and she is not normal.
