Part 1: Hong Kong: 1954- 1956

Upon the Mukherjee family moving to South Jamaica, Queens from Mauritius to improve the learning of new things to their children, they meet a neighbor named Iranir who has lived next door for decades and they become friends. However, Jitendra and Prisha Mukherjee's daughter Tanushri, becomes very shy around Iranir's son Raj, and Raj gets even more shyer than Tanushri. Moreover, Tanushri and Raj go to the same school but Raj is in a different class and Tanushri is in a different class too, but they always meet at lunch. As the years go by, Raj doesn't start to notice Tanushri until they go to the 7th grade, Raj start to like Tanushri, but he was too shy to show his affection towards Tanushri and Tanushri falls for Raj, but she wasn't able to tell him how she felt for him too. When Raj and Tanushri go to the 9th grade, that is when everything has changed.
