Prologue

When Bethany was young, her parents and the rest of her family were slaughtered by McCoys. She was later found wandering in the woods screaming and crying, covered in the blood of her kin. The men that found her took pity on the poor girl and took her in, Ellison adopted her and raised her alongside the rest of the Hatfield boys around her age, (Jonse and Cap) and her new brother Cottontop.
Years later, Cap proposes to Bethany.
