"But I don't want you to go." The poor boy's voice sounded so small, so broken. He was desperate, and if it weren't for his leg injury, he would have already jumped out of bed and held the younger boy tight until he'd given up and agreed not to go. "Mitchie, don't leave. Stay with me, please."

He stared deep into those dark cocoa eyes as he uttered the next three words.

"I love you."
