Chapter 1: Sadie and Willa

Sadie Harrison lives a normal life in New York. Her father is a research doctor for the poor families of New York. Her mother died when she was just a baby and she never got to know her. Sadie doesn’t have that many friends, but she’s content with the ones she does have. But her normal life changes when she goes to work with her father one day and meets Crutchie, the crippled newsie. Awkward and funny, Sadie is almost instantly attracted to the positive minded newsie, until unexpected tragedy strikes her life. Will this tragedy separate Crutchie and Sadie forever?
