"You need to take my car and drive straight to your house. Don't stop anywhere, you understand me?" Day signed. "What? Why?" I asked. "I'm going to take your car. I don't know what they'll do to you if they see you. Drive straight home and don't turn around no matter what happens. No matter WHAT, you understand? If you even look back once I'll never forgive you," he signed. He signed like he meant it but his lips were trembling, shaking enough for me to understand how frightened he really was. "But Day-" I began, but he slapped my hands down into my lap. He placed a bundle of money into my hand, looking to the left again. "There's no time. Go now. Buy every single cookie and candy and soda you can find, okay? And remember, whatever happens, don't look back." He hugged me close and then left me sitting there in the drivers seat. He began walking towards my car, looking back once at me meaningfully. I knew that look. His words, I'll never forgive you, ricocheted off the insides of my head. I drove to the stop sign, knowing that I shouldn't. Knowing that it would haunt me for as long as I would live. Knowing that this moment could define me, one that would show exactly who I was as a person. Or one that had the potential to break me forever. In the end, I looked back.
