Lani, short for Meilani was adopted by an Japanese couple when she mysteriously showed up on their porch in Nevada when she was just 2 days old. Although she grew up with love and attention she always knew she didn't quite fit in with them. Her parents sensing that Lani wasn't happy moved to upstate Washington for their photography careers. All the while Lani discover something about herself that makes her want to leave home forever.
