Prologue

I now remember my life in three chapters: BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER.

Cassie can think of nothing better than summer. There are no rules, no teachers, no schoolwork, just pure, unsupervised summer. Until one night when her life is changed by a chance meeting. Eric, an MMA fighter with a bad streak, dares her to hang out with him. Cassie takes a chance and trusts him. From then on nothing is the same.

**This is a short story I wrote with my writing partner in my high school creative writing class and have continued to work on throughout my creative writing classes in college. Dedicated to L.S.: half the brains and all the heart of this story.**
