Ensign Ro has been recently assigned to the Enterprise-D, but she's so flustered about the new post that she begins to trip over her work. Tasha Yar notices, and goes out of her way to make the newcomer feel at home.

I knoooow that Lieutenant Yar and Ensign Ro never crossed paths in the STNG universe, but I always feel like they would have had good chemistry if they had served on the Enterprise at the same time. Think about it! Two tough action gals, complete with dark backstories to match. Is this an AU? Probably.
