Aylae is living in the time of change for minorities in America. Slavery is over; for the most part. The south isn't homeland to the stolen. There are no more ' Whites Only' signs hanging up at every restaurant, theater, or club. There are movements and marches for practically everything nowadays, and though very few topics Aylae gets involved in, she sees and hears it all proudly. People have come a long way from 1875. At least that's what Aylae thought. That's what everyone thought... America home of the brave land of the free has deeper roots that anyone, let alone Aylae, could fathom. The 20-year-old, orphan comes from an all black family that was adamant about her studies, especially black history. She was taught to not only know about her heritage but study and be thankful for it. Her parents would always tell he she would "Never know the pain her ancestors went through so she could live free today." The only caveat is her parents couldn't perceive the future for their, once adolescent, daughter. Fate would have its twisted way of bringing the past to present. ~ "Do not move unless you are told to nigger.
