Chapter One

This is the story of boy meets girl, but you should know upfront: This is not a love story. "Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only what you are expecting to give - which is everything." I'd heard this quote countless times before in my life, but I never really understood it. I mean, who would be willing to give everything they had to somebody else? WHY would they be willing to give everything they had to somebody else? My mind couldn't wrap around it. I didn't really understand it. I'd always see couples holding hands, I mean, sure I thought it was cute. But...they wouldn't be willing to give up EVERYTHING for that person... Would they? I'd gone on dates before, every once in a while. But...I don't know. I never really felt anything special. "I love you." Those three words seemed to mean so much, and I couldn't imagine a situation in which I would use them. I didn't think I'd ever fall in love. Not until I met Alec Lewis.
