Everyone has Scars in many different forms psychical, mental, verbal and etc. We as human beings have to live with these scars. Some wish they never had them completely, some even enjoy the scars that they have.
As for this girl in the story she hates them it's a constant reminder of what she's been through and will continue to live with it til you die.
