The Mist, The Shadow and The Ki

This short story (maybe novella, we'll see) visits a place between good and evil where untainted innocence binds yet separates the unseen forces that connect the universes. At the apex of everything that is, each universe is governed by beings of sinless incorruptibility called Ki's, who ultimately determines the malevolency or benevolency of the universe in which it resides. Thing is, it has no clue of its role in our future, nor will it.
