Prologue

Brenda is trying to live a normal, human life. Only one problem, she's not human. When Nathan discovers something about Brenda that makes her question everything she has ever known, they spiral into a dangerous adventure of betrayal, trust, and an ancient enemy.

Brenda: I was about to jump. High, but I couldn’t do it. I wanted to so bad. I couldn’t. I did it anyway.

Nathan: I watched as her brown hair floated magically on the wind. It was beautiful. I watched as her fingers grazed the tips of the leaves of the tall, powerful looking tree. She was amazing. They both were. And then, there was a flash, and the girl was gone.
