New Beginnings

The principal stopped next to some lockers at the far end of the school. A door was a few feet away leading outside. I noticed it was snowing.

"And that's our school! I'm excited to have you here, Julie," the balding principal said cheerfully.

"Please. Call me Jordan," I smile tightly at him as I say that for the millionth time. My mom sighs.

He ignores what I say and continues. "Your first class is just down the hall- hey! Caitlyn! This is a new student-"

I push forward roughly, extending my hand towards the dark brown hair- blue eyed girl in front of me.

"My name is Jordan," I insist stubbornly, dysphoria clogging my throat.

"M-my name is Caitlyn- uh, you already knew that... Welcome to John Adams High School."
