PROLOGUE

Its been ten years since the collapse of society and the rise of a virtuous new world regime. Although the new leadership advocates virtue and peace and healing of the fractured world, a whisper of darkness lurks beneath their righteous white robes.

Aurora has been one of the privileged citizens of the Kingdom since it was built ten years ago, living inside its protective walls with her mother. When her mother decides to leave, she goes with her not knowing that it was an unsanctioned exit instead of her usual trading mission. Turned out her mission was a search for Aurora's father. Then along the way she loses her mother and then finds herself lost and alone and on the run--from both Kingdom enforcers and the sinister threats in the Ruins--fighting for survival in the world outside the Kingdom walls protection.

Ares is the most skilled fighter and tracker in a team of hunters and mercenaries for hire in the Ruins. He has been running away from his past for the past ten years, his secrets only known by one other man-his savior and mentor.

In a world where the existence and spread of scientifically engineered aberrations disturb the natural order and awakens supernatural beings hidden from the knowledge of men, two fiery spirits fight for Life--one trying to discover the secrets of her past, the other, trying to run from it.
