❝It's just a little sweetness, Archer,❞ Emma said innocently, blinking numerous times as she pushed the plate that held the one cupcake slightly forward. She was blinking, so that meant she was nervous, I thought. ❝It won't kill you,❞ she continued. Emma pushed the plate further. I nodded and finally reached for the plate. I looked up and Emma lifted the corners of her lips upwards. The cupcake had chocolate frosting with white flakes sprinkled on top of the cupcake in decorative manner. Overall this single, yet simple chocolate cupcake looked like something that came out of a Martha Stewart magazine. I held the cupcake to my mouth and took a bite. And for the first time today which was a horrible day, I smiled at Emma, and she smiled back, and everything then seemed right in the world. But, maybe it wasn't. - Emma Nicolai is what you would call an aspie. Archer Lémieux is what you would call an alcoholic. Battling with Asperger's and battling with addiction, Emma seeks help in baking while Archer seeks help from, well, anything. They have been next door neighbors since they were in diapers and they've never said a word to each other. Until, one night, Archer is knocking on Emma's front door covered in blood and asking to be fixed.
