In hopes to save her six year old daughter, Hermione Jean Granger, from her highly abusive father; Jean (Prince) Granger, (A pureblood witch), sends her daughter back in time hoping she could grow up to live a normal life there.

Hermione is forced to grow up in a shabby orphanage with a boy that she grows rather close to. His name, Tom Riddle Jr. He too is six years of age when they meet.
