Description

#Wattys2016 u·to·pi·a yo͞oˈtōpēə/ noun an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. The word was first used in the book Utopia (1516) by Sir Thomas More. _____________________________________ dys·to·pi·a disˈtōpēə/ noun noun: dystopia; plural noun: dystopias an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one. _____________________________________ Perfection is unachievable. We should know that, but of course nobody taught us. If they did then it's doubtful their message would have gotten through. Humans are a thick, stubborn race. Granted we learn from our mistakes--I'll give us that much--but not before we make them. The dictionary says that utopia is an 'imagined place or state of being'. That means it can't be obtained, which only makes humanity strive for it even more. The dictionary also says that dystopia is imaginary, but it is my belief that this is easier to gain than utopia. Repugnance is almost always more common than beauty. I cannot begin to express my disgust for mankind's attraction to outward beauty. The world itself is an epitome of the ideology doctrine; it appears alluring on the surface, but if you dig a little deeper you can see the angry, writhing mass of tar boiling just under a cheap facade. The world is as ugly as it is pretty, but people were made to look for only the appealing side of nature. Humans themselves are made up of that hazy gray area between light and dark. We are not pure, but we are not tainted. We are a dirty slate messily wiped clean by the shaking hands of God. --Chapter Zero: Utopia, Dystopia
