18-year-old Beth wants to finish school, get her A-Levels and be out of there. Life hasn't been easy, with abusive parents causing her to be taken away, foster families who didn't want her, and superpowers beyond her control.

She wants to fight crime and change the world, but she also just wants to lay on the floor eating crisps and watching Netflix.

When one of her best friends, Lilli, a superhero from the elite group The Protectors, goes missing, Beth has to find her. But what started off as a mission turns into a nightmare. Beth thought she'd already been to rock bottom, and things are about to get a hell of a lot worse.
