I couldn't sleep. No matter how much I tossed and turned, my eyes didn't fall like the rest. I needed to get up. Sighing, I climbed up to the roof and rested myself on the smooth shingles. The lights on the street were out, and the stars hovered above me, brighter than I'd ever seen them before. The ISS soared across the inky black sky, and for once, I envied the people living up there in the vacuum; they didn't have to go through what was going on in down here. "You too?" Jade settled herself by me, wrapped in the small fluffy throw blanket that she had gotten for her birthday a few months back. "I can't sleep either," she said quietly. "Too much on my mind." We sat there in silence for a few moments, looking up at the sky. Jade then took a shaky breath and asked the question that had been on everyone's mind since the day before: "Do you think we'll make it?" I smiled weakly and carefully put an arm around her as she wiped her eyes, the tears flowing anyway. "We'll make it.
