Alice Charles is like any 16 year old... or so she looks that way. She has a very disturbing past, one which she can't handle talking about or even remembering. Every night, she has nighmares about it. To have a fresh start, her mom thought it would be best to move to a new town, a new state. Tulsa, Oklahoma. On her first day, she meets Sodapop Curtis, who only wants to try and become her friend, but fails when he asks her a certain question. You see, she isn't very open anymore. One incident caused her to become a depressed and gloomy type of girl. Before all that, she was the complete opposite. What could of caused such a huge change? Nobody but her family knows. Alice has learned to build walls around herself, so no one can get in. She's afraid to let anybody get too close to her. And that's exactly what Soda wants to do. To help her and earn her trust.
