Lys is born into a dark cruel world ruled by Mörker. He overthrew the last king thanks to the aid of the tuar, a book containing predicitions of the future.
Mӧrker has read of the prediction that a little girl with strange blue colored eyes will have the power to kill Morker, something many had tried and failed at doing.

Lys is the only person born with blue eyes in the history of the kingdom of Asaran.
