After the deaths of her father and older brother, Brooklyn moves to Georgia to live with her grandmother. She struggles academically at her school as well as at home where she must raise her two younger sisters, Lauren and Mia. It seems as though she gives up on her happiness until she meets Christian, an adventurous girl who opens up her enticing world to Brooklyn. Just as it seems her life is finally getting better, she falls back into depression when everything around her begins to crumple once again.
