Alexis and Kennedy's mother divorced their father leaving him depressed and dependent on alcohol. He slowly became abusive towards Alexis who shrinks away from society, protecting her sister becomes more important than a social life.

More and more the recluse Alexis believes the only way towards a happy life is to move out, becoming independent and taking her sister with her.
