zero • when life gives you lemons

"Promise me you'll be my best friend until the day we die." Justin said holding out his pinky finger to swing around Trinity's.

"I promise." She promised swinging her pinky around his, and that promise was intended to be kept, of course.

However, when things got complicated -- life gave them lemons. When that happened, Justin and Trinity stopped trying to make it work and just gave up. That promise was more or less broken.

When life gives you lemons -- do you raise your white flag and give up? Or do persist until you succeed?
