Prologue

Crispin's life has quickly turned to ashes- literally. When a tragic fire causes Crispin and his mother to leave their old life behind and move to New Hampshire, Crispin feels as though nothing could get worse. But once at school, he finds that his stream of bad luck has been practically eternal from the day he was born- the day he was pronounced deaf.
