Prologue

Other than being abandoned by her mother nine years ago, you could call Mona Daniels a pretty normal girl. She went to college, hung out with her normal best friend, and did as much living as a nineteen year old could do.

But when she's contacted by a worried and frantic old friend, her life is anything but normal. She's taken to Deveraux Academy, where Elementals train to become scholars, warriors, and conceal themselves from the rest of the world.

Torn between the life she once had and the life she now has, while also on a search for her mother, Mona must decide whether or not she's truly the girl that she's grown up to believe she is.
