No Man is an Island

Emmett didn't want this.
He didn't want it for his sister.
He didn't want it for himself.
He didn't want it.
He was sick of the same routine: foster care, adoption, new home, foster care.
And, when his last family found abuse to be a rather successful method of parenting, he grabbed his sister, and ran.
He ran.
He ran to the streets.
He ran to the park benches, and the trash cans, and the pickpocketing for a simple meal.
He ran to discord.
And, even worse, he had dragged his sister along with him.
But soon, things would change. They had too.
Question is: for the better?
Or for the worst?
