I Found You

I grabbed the scissors, whirling backwards as I heard the front door close. I had to do it. I had to get out.

"Em?" He cooed, obviously thinking I was making dinner like a good little toy, ready to give in. That wasn't the case.

My fingers shook as I gazed down at the intertwined blades, tears creeping into my eyes as I tried to breathe steadily. The boy I'd sheltered and fallen for so long ago was not the same. W-What I was doing... Would be alright.

As his footsteps made their way into the kitchen, I began to cry, holding the scissors to my chest.
