BOOK 1: Chapter 1: Introduction "Amy! Get down here now!" "I'm coming! Give me a minute!" I yelled back as Miss. Lucy screeched up the stairs. For the head of an orphanage, she sure was loud. As I finished applying my eyeliner and mascara, I sprinted down the stairs. You did not want to mess with the staff at St. Mary's orphanage! "I am here." I announced, walking into the main living room. The orphanage was a medium sized place, made up from an old church. This is why we had mostly nuns as our carers. Now you may be wondering how I ended up here. The truth is, my parents passed away when I was 3, so one of their friends sent me here, where I have lived for 12 years. I don't really miss them because I can't even remember them. I don't even have any pictures so that doesn't help. "We have an exciting announcement for you! Tomorrow you will be getting adopted!" Miss. Lucy exclaimed as she saw me approaching. The only thing that I could think was: again? I have been "adopted" 4 times and each time my "foster parents" bring me back because of the music I listen to, or the style I have, or maybe even because they have had enough of me after a week! Either way, I bet that these people who want to adopt me will bring me back after a couple of weeks at most. I would love to leave this place and be given a home, for I have no friends here. There are the 'popular' ones, the 'geeky' ones and the 'major popular' kids here and then me. I am joint oldest and the tallest although there is one girl who shares the same birthday as me. You'd never guess what category of kids she was! The 'major popular' (aka, the queen bee). Every day she just looks down at me and makes snide comments about me to her friends. "Who's adopting me?" I ask, wanting to know more. "A guy called Patrick. He will pick you up tomorrow so you had better get packing. "
